Today I'm sharing with you guys one of my favorite things to make - coffee! Not just any coffee, we're making a mocha latte today! We all know I love my chocolate, the same goes for my coffee - mocha all the way! Making and drinking coffee in the morning is like my calm before the storm. I know you guys know what I'm talking about - the small window of time between when you wake up and the kids wake up that you sneak into the kitchen to enjoy a cup of coffee while they're still sleeping. Not only do I love coffee in the morning (who am I kidding, I drink it all day long most days), it's my favorite mid-day pick me up! It gives me some diversion while I'm working when I need a little break. Mr. Coffee has this new Mr. Coffee® Easy Measure 12 Cup Programmable Coffee Maker that I am absolutely loving lately and I'm going to tell you all about it and how easy it is to use!
The reason why I am so eager to tell you guys about this coffee maker is because before getting this, I honestly did not know how to make coffee. I would always get confused how many scoops to how much water and my coffee would always come out super weak or would be so strong you'd think you grew hair on your chest - true story! There is a color-coded measuring system that makes it SO simple to add the correct amount of coffee grounds and water every time for consistent results. I can't tell you how much this has saved me, haha! Mr. Coffee® is easy to use, uncomplicated, authentic and creates reliable results.
Some other features: It includes two-stage Advanced Water Filtration that improves taste by removing impurities in the water for a better tasting cup of coffee. Stage 1 removes up to 97% of chlorine from water and Stage 2 targets calcium to reduce water hardness. There is also a 4-Hour Freshness Indicator with an illuminated display that indicates how much time has passed since brewing began. Which is pretty awesome if you're forgetful like me! The larger brew basket holds 25% more coffee grounds (than comparable Mr. Coffee 12 cup coffeemakers standard nylon filter), a programmable LED display, clean cycle and reminder. Pause and serve lets you pour a cup of coffee before brewing is finished with a 4-Hour shut off that will automatically turn off the coffeemaker so you don't leave it on.
Phew, that was a lot but there was so much to cover! Lets get down to business now. Lets talk mocha lattes! To make these lattes, you'll brew some extra strong coffee. In the manual, it lets you know that however much coffee you brew, to make it strong just use heaping scoops. For this recipe I just made 4 cups of coffee, but if you're making lattes for more than one or two people, I'd double the recipe. While the coffee is brewing, you'll gather the rest of your ingredients. You'll need milk, any kind of your choice and chocolate syrup to start.
If you don't have a milk steamer like me, I have an easy hack for you! Simply take a mason jar, fill it halfway with milk and screw on the lid. Shake for about 1-2 minutes. REMOVE THE LID!!!! And microwave for 2 minutes. Please for the love of God, remove the lid before placing in the microwave. These simple steps aerate the milk just enough to create hot foam in the microwave. Easy peasy! Now, add some chocolate syrup to your mug, some hot coffee, steamed milk - holding back the foam and scoop the foam on top. If you wanna get fancy like I did here, you can add a bit of whipped cream and chocolate syrup on top.
