Funfetti Golden Oreo Ice Cream - Sprinkle Some Sugar

I have been on a serious craze with my ice cream maker lately. It’s running at least 4 times a week and I have about 6 different flavors of homemade ice cream in my freezer and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. If it’s hot out, there’s ice cream that needs to be made.. or eaten. It’s no secret here that I have an undying love for ice cream. It’s seriously my biggest weakness! The other day my sister -in-law was telling me how she’s on this strict diet and this and that and I just sat there listening and couldn’t help but think about how she can’t eat ice cream. It just don’t think it would happen for me! Maybe I need help? Ha ha. Anyway, onto the reason you’re here.. this ice cream!

I don’t think you can even look at this ice cream without being instantly happy. Sprinkles rule the world. Obviously, the best part of baking a cake is licking the beaters clean, right? I know I’m not alone here. Welllll, how about we combine ice cream with cake batter and throw in some sprinkles and golden oreos for good measure and call it a day. The best part about this ice cream is that you just whip it all together and throw it in your ice cream maker. No tempering eggs and waiting for the mixture to cool and all that annoying stuff.

This is my favorite ice cream to date. I know, I know.. I will probably have a new favorite next week. But for now, this one has my heart. It stays fresh for up to two weeks in the freezer! I have never made a homemade ice cream that has lasted so long. It is creamy and smooth and is still scoop-able even by week 2. It’s unbelievable!

The cake batter flavor is bold but not overwhelming in the slightest. Have you ever had cake batter ice cream and it’s just overwhelmingly sweet? I made sure that didn’t happen with mine and it just has the most perfect flavor. The oreos stay very slightly crunchy and really add to the overall flavor. I just love golden oreos. Sometimes I may even like them better than the chocolate oreos. If Mike and I are having night time snacks, they’re always the same choices. Him, golden oreos and milk and me, ice cream.. obviously.

If you love cake batter, you will absolutely love this ice cream! Promise.

Pour mixture into ice cream machine and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. About 15 minutes into freezing, fold in oreos and sprinkles and continue churning until very thick. Serve right out of the ice cream maker or for a firmer texture, scoop ice cream into an airtight container and place in freezer for 2-3 hours.
  • Ice cream will stay creamy and smooth for up to 2 weeks stored in an airtight container in the freezer.

Notes

Nonpareil sprinkles will leak color and bleed into ice cream.

If you were to replace Peppermint Extract for Vanilla Extract here, how much would you use? ?? Can t find the right oreos this year and have to go with red!

I would only use 1/4-1/2 tsp of peppermint extract here – it’s very potent! You can always taste test.
