Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

February 26, 2015 by Jessica 26 Comments

This crispy snack is super flavorful, slightly spicy and crazy addicting!

Spicy Roasted Chickpeas - Sprinkle Some Sugar

So, I’ve been trying so hard to eat better lately. Running a food blog is hard to do when you have basically zero self control. I mean, these muddy buddies-1  me-0. I lose. I also lost to these Spicy Roasted Chickpeas. But you know what? They’re actually good for you! I love having healthier options lying around to munch on when I get the urge to have a snack. Because well, that happens quite often.

When I tell you these things are ADDICTING, I mean it. I got the biggest stomachache after this photo shoot because I almost devoured the whole bowl you see here. I’m embarrassing. You probably already knew that though. Speaking of embarrassing, have you ever gotten caught mid-singing-sesh in your car and it’s so awkward because they’re just staring at you like you are insane and you try to play it off like you were coughing or something? HAHA, that happened to me today. Good times.

Spicy Roasted Chickpeas - Sprinkle Some Sugar

I’ve been wanting to make roasted chickpeas for so long because I always see amazing pictures on Pinterest but I never knew what to put on them that I would actually like. That’s the best thing about these though because you can literally put anything you want on them! You can make them spicy, savory, tangy and even sweet! The list goes on. Play around with your favorite spices and flavor combinations and just go wild. I was really into a spicy snack the day I made these, so I added a little teeny bit of cayenne. If you want more of a kick, add more. Don’t want spicy, don’t add any at all. See? So customizable!

Not only are these a great healthy snack, but they are SO easy to make! You just prep the beans and remove the skins (optional {and annoying but I have OCD}), toss in olive oil, sprinkle on the spices and bake them up to crispy perfection. You can bake for as long or as little as you want, depending on the texture you want.

Go ahead, try to have just a handful.. or two.

That looks delicious! Perfect for family TV time bonding. Unfortunately, my kids and husband does not like chickpeas, it’s only me that like eating chickpeas. When I was still in my former country, my Mom used to make snacks for us using chickpeas.

Interesting recipe! These kind of remind me of the Japanese wasabi peas… have you heard of those before? I do like chickpeas, so maybe I’ll have to give these a try some weekend.

I am definitely bookmarking this awesome recipe! I only use chickpeas when I need to make a dip or when I use it as a main ingredient for a Spanish dish called ‘Menudo’. Now with your recipe I have another way of using them!

Thanks for the thoughts you have shared here. In addition, I believe there are some factors which really keep your automobile insurance premium decrease. One is, to think about buying autos that are inside good set of car insurance corporations. Cars which might be expensive are definitely more at risk of being snatched. Aside from that insurance policies are also in line with the value of your car or truck, so the higher in price it is, then higher this premium you have to pay.

I have had wrinkles since I was in my mid-30s. They drive me insane because I feel like I look older than I am. I decided to try Lifecell. I¡¯ve been using it for about a month and have seen little to no improvement so far, but I will continue to use it to see if it will make a difference in the future.
